Skilled nursing is for seniors who need more clinical support than assisted living or independent living provides, but who do not require hospitalization. At Avalon Health Center, we provide around-the-clock nursing care for both short-term post-acute recovery – such as following surgery or a hospital stay – and long-term care for chronic conditions. In addition to clinical care, residents enjoy social and recreational programming and access to wellness activities tailored to their interests and abilities.
Is Avalon Health Center near regional hospitals?
Yes. Avalon Health Center is approximately 12 miles from Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, 10 miles from Westerly Hospital, and less than 17 miles from William Backus Hospital. The Hartford HealthCare HealthCenter is located directly across the street from the StoneRidge campus, providing additional access to primary care and a wide range of specialist services through Connecticut's premier health system.
Do you accept direct admissions?
Yes. Avalon Health Center accepts direct admissions for both StoneRidge residents and seniors coming from elsewhere who are seeking exceptional skilled nursing care. We welcome admissions directly from area hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, and the broader community. Our team coordinates the transition to make the process as smooth as possible for patients and families. StoneRidge residents receive priority access over non-residents.
