The Story of StoneRidge
When StoneRidge opened its doors in 2004, it marked a milestone for southeastern Connecticut: the region's first Life Plan Community, purpose-built to offer a full continuum of care alongside an exceptional independent lifestyle, all on one campus. The 32-acre site in Mystic was chosen deliberately for its natural beauty, its proximity to one of New England's great coastal towns, and its place in a community that StoneRidge would quickly become part of.
In the years since, StoneRidge has grown into something its founders would recognize immediately: a thriving, resident-led community where more than 300 people have made their home, shaped their days, and built friendships that define what community actually means. StoneRidge has earned consistent recognition for care quality and community life – and continues to evolve, with a major expansion now underway that will write the next chapter of this story.
Mystic Made It All Possible
The relationship between StoneRidge and Mystic runs deeper than geography. Residents volunteer at the Mystic Seaport Museum and Mystic Aquarium. They attend the Outdoor Art Festival, cross the Mystic River Bascule Bridge on their way to lunch, and support local institutions that have been part of this community for generations. StoneRidge didn't arrive in Mystic and observe it from a distance – it became part of the fabric of the town. That connection was intentional from the beginning, and it has only deepened over two decades.
When Mystic Bridge and Stonington Village were designated Connecticut Cultural Districts in 2024, it was a formal recognition of something residents here had always known: This is one of the great places to live in New England, and StoneRidge is right in the middle of it.
Growing for Today’s Seniors
Over 20 years later, StoneRidge is growing. A major expansion is now under construction on our Mystic campus. It's the next chapter of a story that started with a vision for what senior living in southeastern Connecticut could be. That vision hasn't changed. The community just keeps growing to match it.
